Smith Dobson Duo

Smith Dobson grew up around a celebrated family of musicians, including his father, pianist Smith Dobson IV, his mother, vocalist Gail Dobson, and his sister, vocalist Sasha Dobson. Growing up in Santa Cruz, Smith started playing drums at age 2 and performed his first gig in second grade alongside his family. At 19, Smith moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and quickly immersed himself in the vibrant music scene, working with local jazz legends like Hal Stein and Noel Jewkes, as well as avant-garde master Ben Goldberg. He has also collaborated with pop icons Norah Jones and Boz Scaggs. Smith has performed often at the SFJAZZ Center, internationally in Berlin and Paris, and in New York, including a recent appearance at Birdland with his sister. In addition to music, Dobson is also a writer and visual artist.
